Baked Banana Cream Pie Filling


  • 11/2 cups unbleached white flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 cups mashed banana
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 tsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg


Preheat oven to 375ºF. Prepare filling by placing milk in saucepan and gradually adding flour, mixing with a whisk and stirring out the lumps. Add next 2 ingredients and continue cooking and stirring over medium heat. When thick, turn off heat and add the next 5 ingredients. Pour into an unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle topping evenly over filled pie shell and drizzle honey generously over the top. Bake at 375º for 20 minutes until brown on top. Serve warm or cooled.
