Kids who want to sleep in your bed

After letting our children sleep with us, in the living room and with their aunt, they now fuss and make up excuses to avoid sleeping in their beds. What do you suggest to get them to sleep in their own beds?

The reasoning against having children sleep in your bed is that it becomes very difficult to get them to sleep in their own beds again! I don’t know the ages of your children, but the approach to returning them to their own beds is the same regardless of age.

Be firm, stick to the plan and be consistent about what the “rules” are. If you give in, the children won’t take you seriously. You won’t see immediate changes (that is, within a few days or nights). In fact, you may have a few sleepless nights before you get them back to their own beds for the whole night. But be persistent – the only method that works in the long run.
